Five Element Nutrition

     The Five Element Theory, which is based on TCM, classifies the different organs and entrails into five categories: Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire. Each of  category is divided into Yin and Yang and has its own flavour, colour, smell, texture, season etc.

    Food is a very important part of health, and many benefits can be achieved by tweaking a person’s diet. By looking at what they eat, a therapist can better understand why and where that person is out of balance and not achieving ultimate health.

     One diet does not fit all! Each flavour (Sweet, Spicy, Salty, Sour, Bitter) is divided into temperatures and depending on the person’s imbalance they will need to eat cooling or warming foods-a reason why a lot of standard diets work for some people but not others.

     It is very wise to accompany acupuncture with nutrition to make the most of your treatments.
